From our award winning staff of instructors, to our ability to custom tailor specialized programs, The Santa Barbara Sailing Center sits content above the rest. We are one of the largest accredited sailing schools in the nation and issues ASA (American Sailing Association) student certifications. We have over 40 charter boats in our program and have a large staff of instructors with impressive sailing and teaching resumes.

The Santa Barbara Channel makes for a challenging and beautiful area to learn to sail and cruise. Here it is not uncommon to have winds in excess of 25 to 30 knots with 4-8 foot seas out in the channel while the inner waters, within a couple of miles of the coastline, experience a gentle 10 to 12 knots and 1-2 foot seas. With the broad spectrum of sailing conditions accessible within the Santa Barbara area, we are able to accommodate the sailor of all levels; your confidence in yourself and the yacht to withstand heavier conditions will be unsurpassed after your experience sailing around the Channel Islands.
Our class format is comprehensive and informative and you will be well educated and prepared to sail anywhere in the world. If you are willing to review the textbooks and supplementary reading material we send you in advance, we will guarantee that you will not receive a more comprehensive program anywhere. We have plenty of liveaboard instructional vacation options to choose from, as well as regularly scheduled group classes.
